Building Element Info - Drawing Notation

Contains controls to view and edit drawing notations for the selected element. Notations are established using Drawing Notation properties in Family/Part Editor .

Note: The Drawing Notation tab appears only when linear forms are selected.

Setting	Description
Auto Dimensions group box	Defines dimension settings for a part. The form (to which the part is attached) automatically generates predefined dimensions in a 2D document. Type None – No dimensions are generated in the section. Overall – Generates dimensions that show the overall length of each form. Openings – Generates dimensions that show the width of each opening. Openings (if necessary) – Generates dimensions that show the width of each opening only when the forms have openings. Openings on Axis – Generates dimensions to the center of each opening. Openings on Axis (if necessary) – Generates dimensions to the center of each opening only when the forms have openings. Openings Indented – A predefined distance is added to the end of each dimension line, for dimensions to openings. The predefined distance is specified by the Auto Dimensions Font Size, Openings Increment setting, in the Preferences dialog, Building Designer Category. Openings Indented (if necessary) – Dimensions to each opening are increased by a predefined distance only when the forms have openings. Position Right – Places the dimension line to the right of the form. Left – Places the dimension line to the left of the form. Distance — Sets the distance between the form and the dimension line.
Label	Used to add a label to a linear form. Note: Labels can be used in conjunction with the Select By Attributes utility, Building Criteria, when searching forms in the DGN.

Auto Dimensions group box

Type
- None – No dimensions are generated in the section.
- Overall – Generates dimensions that show the overall length of each form.
- Openings – Generates dimensions that show the width of each opening.
- Openings (if necessary) – Generates dimensions that show the width of each opening only when the forms have openings.
- Openings on Axis – Generates dimensions to the center of each opening.
- Openings on Axis (if necessary) – Generates dimensions to the center of each opening only when the forms have openings.
